3 Beauty Lessons Every Mom Needs to Learn

Whether you’ve noticed changes in your skin post-baby (yes, we’re talking about that tight, dry feeling) or are looking for simple steps to look put together on little time, you’ve come to the right place. Mini sat down with Indie Lee— mom of two, skincare guru and founder behind the eponymous all-natural brand-to get the inside scoop on the beauty lessons every mom should learn.

Listen to your body

“Don’t look it at it as tackling [your skin troubles], but rather listening to your body and what it is telling you. If you have dry skin, use a plant-based oil- something that isn’t going to clog pores, but actually hydrate your skin. I know people have a tough time with this, but just because your skin is oily doesn’t mean you shouldn’t moisturize with oil. When you strip the excess oil from your skin, you send a signal to your sebaceous gland to keep producing oil.”

Behold the balm

“[Every mom should have] a great multi-tasking balm (I use our Hydrating Body Balm) that you can keep on your vanity or stick in your handbag. They are great for chapped lips, wind-burned cheeks, scrapes and bruises. Another must is a product that helps create an indulgent bathing ritual. After all, it’s one of the few places we get some down time. I love mixing our Lavender Chamomile Moisturizing Oil in with my bath for extra hydration and added relaxation.”

Must add moisture

“[If you’re going to splurge on one item], make it your moisturizer. Your moisturizer is used on your skin daily, usually after you bathe or wash your face and your pores are open. Therefore, make sure it’s going to keep your skin hydrated without allowing any potential toxins in. The right moisturizer will help with anti-aging and give you a natural glow for those days when we can’t get through our full makeup routine.”
