While Kallie Thomson—the self-taught designer behind heirloom-quality furniture brand Häti Home—may have taken a path to design that began in artisan workshops around the world rather than a traditional classroom, the mom to Honey, 11, and Golden, 7, creates pieces rooted in warmth, sustainability, and soul, balancing beauty with the kind of real-life functionality family life demands.

We caught up with the designer, traveler, and creative to talk about everything from the apps she uses most and the last book she read to what’s always in her fridge, her favorite kids movie, where she loves to travel (add these to your list!), and the one thing she swore she’d never do before becoming a mom.
