While Ashley Buckler—the Chief Brand Officer behind clean skincare brand Barefaced—has built a career around helping women feel confident in their own skin, this mom to Brody, 2, is equally devoted to cultivating something just as intentional at home: a peaceful, joy-filled rhythm for the people she loves most.

We caught up with the brand builder, Italy-lover, and self-proclaimed midnight cereal enthusiast to talk about everything from the apps she uses most and the last book she read to what’s always in her fridge, her favorite kids movie (honestly, same!), and the one thing she never thought she’d care about before becoming a mom.

If There Were More Hours in the Day

Craft with Brody! There is something meditative about making something with your hands. It takes you out of your head for a moment and gives you the freedom to be creative with no agenda attached to the outcome. But let’s be honest… he’s a two-year-old little boy right now who would much rather run around outside playing with his golf clubs!

Favorite Kids Movie

Anything cozy and nostalgic. We’ve had Toy Story on repeat lately!

On My Nightstand

The 5-Minute Gratitude Journal, Hatch alarm clock, a weighted sleep mask (I love the Nodpod one), always a book (I’m currently reading The Four Agreements), and Barefaced Clean Slate Spritz.

Favorite Kids Book

Goodnight Moon! It’s a classic and never gets old. Brody and I both have it memorized at this point.

Before Kids, I Never Thought I Would

Care so deeply about the rhythm of our home. I recently heard a quote that says your home has one nervous system. Growing up, my mom always said that the woman has the power to set the tone and energy of the home, and I’ve found that to be so true. If mom is stressed, the whole house feels tense. If mom is at peace, the whole house feels her joy. I started therapy for the first time this year because I’m so much more aware and curious about my nervous system and want to make sure I’m creating a peaceful, loving, joy-filled childhood and marriage for the people I love most.

Always in My Fridge

Fresh fruit, something prepped, hazelnut coffee creamer, and half full sippy cups.

Ideal Date Night

Early dinner on an outdoor patio with a good bottle of wine and a quality conversation. Having kids has placed a new value on the small, simple moments together. In this season of life, getting some uninterrupted conversation and eye contact feels like a major win!

Favorite Local Shop

Bella Cucina! She has the most thoughtful, curated pieces. I feel so calm and creative in her space— I love it.

Pregnancy Cravings

Hot Light Krispy Kreme glazed donuts and midnight cereal. Nothing hits quite like midnight cereal when you’re pregnant.

My Coffee Order

Making coffee at home is part of my daily ritual that I look forward to so much! I keep it basic: coffee, whole milk, and a little hazelnut creamer. The mug is important… my favorite is the one I bought in Italy the day we found out we were pregnant!

Can’t Stop Listening To

Anything by Ella Langley! We are having kitchen dance parties with her every morning right now. Brody is a big fan too.

Favorite Local Restaurant

Recently we are loving Pendolino. It reminds me of our time in Italy.

Last Book I Read

The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz. I like to re-read this book at the beginning of every year because it reminds me to expand my thinking and challenge any limiting beliefs. I’m a big believer that our beliefs shape our lives and new ideas are sparked every time I read it.

Wardrobe Staples

A plot twist I didn’t see coming after becoming a mom was how much my style would change. I recently did a closet overhaul and I found myself gravitating towards pieces that are feminine, textured, comfortable, and have something unique to them. One staple that has stayed with me are my Levi’s jeans. A simple classic that goes with everything.

Guilty Pleasure

Sleeping in and I’m so grateful my husband lets me do this every Saturday and Sunday! He always gets Brody up while I rest and it is the best gift ever.

Favorite Place to Travel

Europe! My husband and I went to Italy together for the first time in 2023 and it was the most special trip. I love the slower pace and natural beauty it has to offer. I feel like it changed something within me forever.

Growing Up, I Wanted to Be

Britney Spears or a teacher… somehow I believed I could be both, ha!

The Apps I Use Most

My photos app. Do all moms look at pictures and videos of their kids in between meetings and before bed or is it just me? I’m usually pretty exhausted by the end of the day, but as soon as he’s asleep, I find myself looking back on our days together. I just can’t get enough of him at this age right now; it’s the cutest.

Shows I’m Watching Right Now

I usually have one show I’m watching in my “girl time” and one I’m watching with Beau, my husband. Right now, my “girl show” is Love Story and our couple’s show is Survivor. Both have me captivated.
